ST. LEO — The towns of St. Leo and San Antonio are close to reaching an agreement that could avoid a costly legal battle over Saint Leo University’s use of Pompanic Street, a tiny road owned by both municipalities, officials said.
The issue revolves around allowing large trucks to use the street to access the university’s proposed plant operations facility. In October, St. Leo Mayor Richard Christmas was served with the lawsuit filed by San Antonio after St. Leo agreed to allow truck access to Pompanic.
San Antonio’s lawsuit argues that St. Leo’s approval of the university’s site plan for the 17,000-square-foot plant operations facility violated St. Leo’s own land-use plan and land development code.
